We tested DeepSeek. Here's what you need to know

The price comparisons there don't make much sense. DeepSeek V2 is far worse than 4o, so a better analogy would be to compare the pricing of V3 and R1 instead. For example, if you check https://artificialanalysis.ai/models/deepseek-v3, you'll find the following output token prices:

- DeepSeek V3 $1.10 vs. 4o $10 per 1M tokens - DeepSeek R1 $3 vs. o1 mini $12.60 vs. o1 $60 per 1M tokens

That's a staggering difference, and I wonder if this will only increase the amount of money OpenAI loses per request if they decide to fight a pricing war. There's no moat indeed.
