Show HN: Language Learning with Comics

Hey friends,

I'm currently learning Mandarin and was looking for a way to practice my reading that I'd be looking forward to do every day. Graded readers are quickly boring, and normal books are way too far up for my level.

Comics and webtoons are the perfect format: fun, conversational style, contains slang. But unfortunately are not compatible with traditional language learning apps (linq, language reactor, migaku, etc.) and manually looking up text disrupts the reading a lot.

So I made a little Chrome extension that runs OCR on the comics, translates them, and overlays popups on top of the speech bubbles to easily read them.

I also made a version that runs in the Kindle browser, by building a very optimized/limited webpage that doesn't crash the very-limited Kindle browser.
