I vibe coded a world cup cheer guide for fans
I don’t use hackernews so just created this account to share, since I thought this was fun and timely.
I’m lucky to have a few tickets to world cup matches this year, and have been wondering who I’ll be likely to see in the knockout stages. So I vibe coded a simulation website with Claude, you can check it out here: worldcupcheerguide.com
You can select which matches you’ll attend, and also add preferences on teams you’d like to see. Then for every match, it will tell you who to cheer for to have the best odds of seeing the best or most exciting teams.
For good measure, I’ve also included a Probabilities tab that shows the most likely teams to end up in every match of the tournament, as well as the most likely matchups.
The whole thing runs in browser and is hosted for free on github pages. The link to the github is on the page. Enjoy!
I don’t understand what you built.
I thought this was going to be something that explained unique chants or songs each team’s fans do.
Gotcha, I see what you thought based on the title. It’s meant to answer a few different questions:
1. Say I am a fan of X team, who should I cheer for in all the matches that would maximize X team’s chance of going far in the tournament? Team path answers that
2. Say I have tickets for two matches in the later knockout rounds, what are the most likely teams I’ll see there? Probabilities tab answers that
3. Say I’m a general fan, what teams do I really care about and how do I cheer to have the most exciting tournament? My teams tab and Cheer guide tab answer that
4. Say I’m a general fan and want to make sure I don’t miss the most exciting matches based on my preferences? My teams and the must-watch tab let you export the most interesting matches to your iCal
